James Millar | Founder and Managing Partner
Before founding SBA in 2013, Jamie was a Partner at Tapestry Networks, where he spent nearly a decade convening invitation-only, peer-to-peer networks for investment professionals, CFOs, and GCs representing many of the world’s largest and most successful private equity firms. In addition, Jamie organized and led more than 100 meetings of public company audit committee chairs, focused on risk management, audit, and compliance.
Jamie previously founded Bonfire Consulting, a firm specializing in the application of social network principles to strategic business opportunities. Earlier in his career, Jamie was Chairman of the MBA Admissions Board and Director of Financial Aid at Harvard Business School. In that capacity, Jamie led the effort to transform the school’s financial aid structure, including its well-publicized partnership with Citibank for student loans.
Other past affiliations include IntellectExchange for which Jamie was vice president of Client Services, Fidelity Investments’ online brokerage business, and Morgan Stanley’s New York and Toronto offices.
Jamie graduated with honors from the University of Toronto with a degree in Industrial Engineering, and he received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Jamie is the author of Building Bridges: The Case for Executive Peer Networks. He also hosts the Building Bridges Podcast, which brings together small groups of professionals for lively discussions about the future of business.
